Farmer’s Satisfaction towards PMFBY Scheme in Trichy District of Tamil Nadu, India

Crop insurance is one of the risk management strategies that can help farmers manage hazards more effectively. The third-largest crop plan, PMFBY (Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana), serves as a relief programme for whose crops have been affected by natural calamity. aim study was to determine satisfaction level regarding scheme in Trichy district. research conducted during year 2022 using “ex-post facto” design. Three villages from each block Thuraiyur and Uppiliyapuram were purposefully chosen based on having higher percentage insured farmers. Respondents selected proportionate sampling village, sample size 120. data collected structured interview schedule primary analysed descriptive statistics, cumulative frequency method chi-square test. study's findings revealed most (65.00%) middle-aged, 77% male had middle-school education, owned small amounts land (60.83%), medium information (65.78%), loans cooperative banks (50%) orientation economic motivation. Regarding satisfaction, than half respondents (68.33%) reported with scheme. factors viz., orientation, farm size, sources, educational attainment, disaster occurrence all positive significant relationship at 5% probability. Farmers' found be modest study. As result, accountable officials must conduct awareness campaigns, educate before or cutting experiments, make loss assessment process flexible straightforward, distribute claims prior start following season.
